At a wedding in India, a friend, a guest, was hit and killed by a gunshot fired by the groom.

On the 23rd local time, foreign media including India's NDTV reported that the groom accidentally hit her friend while shooting a cannon during her wedding in Uttar Pradesh, northern India, on the 21st.

Groom Manish Madesia reportedly raised her right arm high to fire her gun in the air, but lowered her arm below her when her shot failed.

In the process, Madesia accidentally pulled the trigger and the gun was fired, and the scene quickly became chaos as her groom and her friend Babulalyadev were shot and knocked down.

Yadev was rushed to hospital, but died while receiving treatment.

As a soldier, he was reportedly on vacation while attending Madesia's wedding.

Local police made an emergency arrest for Madesia on the charge of murder, and also confiscated the pistol used by Madesia.

This pistol has been identified as belonging to Yadev.

Although the law prohibits the use of firearms to fire cannons at weddings and other events, it remains a practice and is not followed.

In 2016, an 8-year-old boy was shot and killed at the site of a local election victory banquet, and in 2018 and 2019, respectively, the groom was shot and killed during a wedding ceremony.
