On June 26, local time, according to the US "Capitol Hill" report, two protesters were arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and assaulting the police during a demonstration in Los Angeles, California, against the US Supreme Court's cancellation of the abortion right decision.

The LAPD said the attack took place at an abortion rights protest demonstration in downtown Los Angeles, and while most demonstrations were peaceful, a small group of protesters did clash with police downtown.

Later in the protests, bottles, rocks and fireworks were seen being thrown at police.

A 30-year-old male demonstrator attacked a police officer with a flamethrower, who was taken to hospital with burns.

Los Angeles police said the man has been booked into jail and will face charges of attempted police murder.

Another protester, a 23-year-old woman, was arrested after trying to take away an officer's baton.

Police said the woman has also been registered in jail and may face charges of resisting arrest.

The LAPD chief said that while he supports protesters exercising their First Amendment rights, those who commit crimes will be arrested and the department will "actively prosecute."
