Serbian leader Aleksandar Vucic spoke about the confrontational policy of a number of European countries that send weapons to Kyiv and at the same time ignore the issue of the territorial integrity of Serbia.

“Part of the EU is at war with Russia.

How do you expect the one who sent 12 large howitzers, 30 tanks, S-300s and six aircraft (Ukraine. - RT

) to think positively about Serbia

?

How does such a country treat us?

Another question is that they do not want to hear our arguments about 1999 (about the NATO bombings. -

RT

) and territorial integrity, this is a settled issue for them, ”RIA Novosti quotes Vucic as saying.

He noted that 16 heads of state and government have already spoken about the need for Belgrade to join the restrictive measures against Russia.

Earlier, Vučić also reported on EU pressure on Serbia due to its refusal to join the sanctions.

New security

We will remind, earlier Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the European Union together with NATO are gathering a coalition for the war against Russia.

“We have few illusions that the current Russophobic charge of the European Union will somehow dissipate or change in the foreseeable (and to be honest, in the long term) perspective,” the minister said at a press conference in Baku.

From his point of view, the path chosen by Brussels is reminiscent of the beginning of World War II, when Nazi Germany gathered a significant part of European countries under its banners.

“It’s the same now: including the European Union, together with NATO, they are gathering such an already modern coalition to fight, and by and large war with the Russian Federation.

We will look at all this very carefully," Lavrov said.

Earlier in Moscow, they said that they were closely monitoring the issue of Ukraine's potential entry into the EU in the context of intensifying discussions about the defense component of the union.

This, in particular, was said by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

“This still remains a different plane (not military-political. -

RT

).

Although, of course, this requires our increased attention, because we all know about the intensification of discussions in Europe on the subject of strengthening the defense component of the European Union - the military, defense and security components.

Different transformations are taking place there, which we, of course, are observing most carefully,” he added.

Recall that earlier the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that against the background of the events around Ukraine, the security configuration in Europe has changed, which requires the EU to make great efforts to protect itself.

A few days later, at an event organized by the Center for European Policy Research (CEPS), the head of EU diplomacy said that Europe must learn to "use the language of power."

“Europe must learn to use the language of force… It is the ability to respond to threats, to respond in pursuit of our interests.

This is not just the "soft power" of the legal system, but the use of heavy power - not necessarily military, but heavy, ”RIA Novosti quotes him.

Borrell also called on European countries to "take the initiative and build coalitions", look for partners not only among like-minded countries.

Commenting on these statements, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that there is a strong Russophobic wing in the EU, which for many years imposed its position on everyone else, speculating on the principle of solidarity and consensus.

“This wing is now increasing its activity.

Borrell’s statements, despite the inadequacy of the belligerent words coming from the lips of the EU’s chief diplomat, reflect a trend that an aggressive minority is imposing on the entire EU,” Sergey Lavrov told reporters after a meeting of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

A paramilitary European Union is “their ideal,” he stressed.

“And not just a paramilitary EU as a strategically autonomous player, but an appendage of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Based on all the facts, one can make an unambiguous conclusion that this is precisely the task of those who want to rally the West under the indisputable command of Washington," the Russian Foreign Minister stated.

“The European Union is supposedly an independent political organization”

Speaking about the geopolitical assessments of the current situation presented by Alexander Vucic, experts interviewed by RT agree that in the current realities in the EU, pluralism of opinions regarding Russia is unacceptable.

“This statement was made against the backdrop of the emergence of two new candidates for EU membership - Ukraine and Moldova.

Moreover, this status was denied to Georgia - as it seems to me, for the insufficiently Russophobic anti-Russian policy that they are implementing today, and non-alignment with the relevant sanctions, which would be tantamount to suicide for this state, ”the director of the International Institute of Newest States emphasized in a conversation with RT political scientist Alexei Martynov.

He recalled that Serbia and other Balkan countries have been in the status of candidates for EU membership for a long time.

“Obviously, there is no movement towards full membership in the European Union simply because many of these states do not correspond to the directions set by the leading countries of the union and the Brussels European bureaucrats.

These countries, including Serbia, are constantly being reminded in plain text: “Take a Russophobic and anti-Russian position, agree to all sanctions, give up good relations with Moscow, and then maybe we will consider once again the issue of your full membership” Martynov explained.

In turn, in an interview with RT, the editor of the Nezavisimoe Voennoye Obozreniye newspaper, Dmitry Litovkin, called the assessment of the Serbian leader absolutely legitimate, since a number of European countries are actually directly involved in the conflict.

“This is Poland, Slovakia, Germany, France, Great Britain - almost the whole of Europe.

Moreover, this is supported by dual interpretations of what is happening.

NATO claims that the bloc is not involved in the military conflict in Ukraine.

But at the same time, individual countries act on behalf of the EU or on their own initiative, and the alliance cannot forbid them anything, since the European Union is supposedly an independent political organization.

This is done in order to remove responsibility from the alliance and not apply Article 5 of the North Atlantic Collective Defense Treaty.

Because any direct conflict with NATO is the risk of a nuclear war, ”the expert concluded.
