Hamdan bin Mohammed announces an increase in support for the neediest groups by 58%

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, chaired the first meeting of the Development and Citizens Affairs Committee, in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

His Highness approved an increase in the value of the financial benefits provided to the most needy categories of the emirate's citizens, an increase of 58% over last year, to reach about 438 million dirhams, distributed to beneficiaries registered with the Community Development Authority and new cases.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum stressed that "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is keen to provide the best standard of life for our citizens, the best environment for raising our families, and the best economic opportunities for our youth."

His Highness added, "The Higher Committee for Development and Citizens Affairs will submit within 60 days a comprehensive vision of the social sector for approval by His Highness the Ruler of Dubai."

His Highness also stressed that "the social sector is the most important sector during the coming period," calling on all government agencies to focus on it.

His Highness also called on economic and commercial actors to participate in the development of this vital sector.

In detail, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved an increase in the value of the financial benefit for low-income people, as the benefits of the target groups increased this year by 42% to reach about 394 million dirhams.

Thus, the average increase is 42%, according to the additional needs of the families, where the increase ranges from 20% to 67%, depending on the case, and the families headed by senior citizens, widows, divorced female breadwinners, and lower-income families benefit more from it.

The rate of increase in spending is based on the study conducted by the Community Development Authority of the situation of the targeted families and the special needs of each of them.

As for families headed by young people who are able to work in the age group of less than 40 years, funds have been allocated to be included in the Dubai Financial Empowerment Program in order to support their financial independence.

During the meeting, seven work streams were formed within the committee, with the participation of 10 government agencies, and a comprehensive plan for the social sector within two months. The development of an integrated platform dedicated to all services provided to citizens in the Emirate of Dubai will begin, in addition to the immediate start of developing model neighborhoods for citizens in Dubai, beginning with Mizhar 1, Al Khawaneej 2, Al Barsha 2, and Hatta.

In addition, a comprehensive plan for the development of rural and remote areas is being drafted, which will be announced next September.

The committee aims to develop a clear action plan in the Emirate of Dubai in cooperation with the private, public and semi-governmental sectors, follow up its implementation with the concerned authorities, and ensure the achievement of the goals set by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for this file.

A development plan will also be drawn up for the countryside and residential neighborhoods for citizens, raising the quality of life in them, following up on this with the concerned authorities, and raising a set of initiatives and development policies for the file of retirees in Dubai with the aim of providing them with economic opportunities, and developing exceptional and innovative ideas and projects to enhance the welfare of citizens in a tangible and unprecedented way.

And His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid posted on His Highness's page on "Twitter", that the priority of support will be for senior citizens, divorced women and widows who are breadwinners.

His Highness also said: “We have decided to immediately start developing the model residential neighborhoods for citizens in Al Mizhar, Al Khawaneej 2, Al Barsha and Hatta.

The neighborhoods will provide 500 economic opportunities for the people of the neighborhoods, and will provide facilities that will make them the most beautiful and best neighborhoods in the region. We have decided to start developing a comprehensive electronic platform to provide services to citizens in Dubai.”
