In the aftermath of his failure in the legislative elections, it was difficult to understand what Emmanuel Macron wanted to do.
It is possible that the Head of State tried to buy time.
The French president knows that for the moment, he is stuck, even blocked.
“The best defense is attack,” the saying goes.
The president therefore launched a two-step strategy.
First, to receive the leaders of political parties at the beginning of the week, and to propose to them to integrate a government of national unity.
Then, ask the oppositions to reveal their game, by making it known on which subjects they would be ready to support the government.

44 deputies missing for an absolute majority
Two proposals therefore, but Emmanuel Macron knew in advance that he would suffer a double refusal.
He did it to try to show that he has reached out, and that the deterioration of the situation does not come from him.
Above all, he is trying to save time, to try to rally to him, in all discretion, as many deputies as possible.
They are 17 in number, personalities from the center right and the UDI, who have not yet joined him officially.
But the puzzle remains, because he needs a total of 44 additional deputies to hope to obtain an absolute majority.
