Coffee tops the price increase when it comes to food according to Statistics Sweden's consumer price index.

The price has risen by as much as 40 percent since the same time last year, which is mainly due to poor harvests.

But the price increase has caused the market to react.

- We sell less of coffee, states Tomas Emanuelz who is a food retailer in Sundsvall.

The coffee price continues to rise with an increase of 5.5 percent since the last survey in April.

Meat is becoming more expensive

When it comes to midsummer food, it is mainly the piece of meat that we want to put on the grill that has become more expensive.

The price of meat has increased by 4.4 percent in the last month.

Most people have gotten used to the fact that strawberries are suddenly becoming more expensive this weekend.

On Alnö outside Sundsvall, the price was up to SEK 70 per liter on Thursday.

But this year, accessories for the strawberry cake also cost more than usual.

The price of milk, cheese and eggs has increased by 3.5 percent compared with April.

All according to Statistics Sweden's statistics.

- You have to be a little attentive so that you do not shop too much, says Karin Wejåker who buys midsummer food in Sundsvall.

Not worried

Trader Tomas Emanuelz does not think there is cause for concern, despite the escalating situation with rising inflation and rising prices.

- In general, I am not worried about the future, no one wants such a large cost for the families as food is to run away too much, he says.

Want good stuff

And after all, the trade before the midsummer weekend looks about as usual, at least in the store in Sundsvall that SVT visited.

- You want the good stuff that you know and like, it is important that it will be good this weekend, states Johan Mo who is department manager at the delicatessen counter.
