The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, discussed with the head of the political bureau of the Palestinian Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, political developments and threats in the region, while Israeli officers discussed with their counterparts from the US military preparations for a possible regional escalation.

And Hezbollah announced in a statement Thursday that Nasrallah met Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation in Beirut, where they reviewed various political and field developments in Palestine, Lebanon and the region.

The statement added that during the meeting, the two sides emphasized "the resistance's cooperation to serve the Palestinian cause," and that they "discussed the development of the resistance axis and the existing threats, challenges and opportunities."

The Palestinian Media Center said that the meeting confirmed "Lebanon's right to extract gas from its maritime borders, and to stop the Israeli hand from piracy and theft of resources."

On Tuesday, Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation arrived in Beirut for a visit for several days, during which he will meet with state officials, Lebanese authorities and actors, and the Palestinian factions.

Nasrallah and Haniyeh's meeting came a day after Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz warned that the occupation army is capable of destroying Hezbollah and, if necessary, overrunning Beirut and Sidon.

US-Israeli meeting

On the other hand, senior officers in the Israeli army concluded strategic meetings with their counterparts from the Central Command in the US Army.

An Israeli army statement said that the meetings focused on discussing the security challenges facing the two armies in the vicinity, and also included discussing military preparations for a regional escalation in the region.
