Tragic end of a birthday party: On Friday evening, a 33-year-old woman drove her vehicle into a barbecue hut in the Riedstadt district of Crumstadt, where the party was taking place.
Eight people were injured, some seriously.
As the police report, after attending the celebration, the woman got into her car parked in front of the hut, gave full throttle and drove through the barbecue hut.
Her husband was also in the car.
According to initial information, eight people were injured, two of them seriously.
One person had to be taken to a hospital in a rescue helicopter.
Pastors looked after eight other guests.
A total of 75 police and firefighters are said to have been deployed.
It is still unclear how the accident could have happened.
An amount of property damage was not yet foreseeable, the police commander said on record.
An expert from the public prosecutor's office in Darmstadt was commissioned to clarify how the accident happened.
