The pandemic brought the Brussels Antiques & Fine Arts Fair (BRAFA) an appearance in June instead of the usual January – and a new venue.

The 2021 fair had moved from the Tour & Taxis site to the galleries in order to be able to take place.

Now the exhibitors are reunited for the 62nd edition of Brussels Expo in two palaces in the shadow of the Atomium.

As the guest of honour, the Belgian artist Arne Quinze designed the halls colorfully.

Eclecticism is the trump card at BRAFA, which brings together objects from a wide variety of eras and parts of the world.

Now she is expanding her portfolio to include Islamic art.

115 galleries (133 in 2020) from fifteen countries are exhibiting, eighteen are there for the first time, 34 are playing at the same time at the TEFAF in Maastricht, which has a competing date.

Dealers already reported numerous sales on the preview days, including a figure of Christ made of boxwood, which the Flemish Baroque artist Jan III van Doorne created in the spirit of Jansenism.

A private donor purchased the forty centimeter high statue for an undisclosed price from Floris Van Wanroij Fine Art (Dommelen) for the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.

BRAFA, Brussels Exhibition Center, Halls 3 and 4, until July 26, admission 25 euros
