Andersson on Ukraine as EU candidate: "Historical decision"

Last night, Ukraine and Moldova were granted candidate status for EU membership.

- It is an important decision.

It gives an incredibly important signal to the Ukrainian people and not least the military who are now fighting, says Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (S) on the spot in Brussels.

 But it may be a long time before the countries become members of the Union for real.

- There will be a lot of work left for Ukraine.

Ukraine

has undertaken important reforms in recent years and Sweden has also supported them in its reform efforts.
