An Egyptian presidential statement on the visit of the Emir of Qatar to Cairo

The Egyptian presidency announced that Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi will receive this evening, Friday, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, in Cairo, on a two-day visit.

The official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic in Egypt stated that the visit is expected to include holding bilateral talks between the two leaders to address the overall bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance them in various fields, as well as discussing developments in regional and international political issues of common interest.

A diplomatic source had confirmed that Emir Tamim bin Hamad, Emir of the State of Qatar, will start an official visit to Cairo today, to meet with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries.

This is the first visit by the Emir of Qatar to Cairo, and the first to Egypt in 7 years, following his last visit in 2015 to Sharm El-Sheikh to participate in the Arab Summit held in the city of peace.

A diplomatic source mentioned the details of the visit of the Emir of Qatar to Egypt, on Friday and Saturday, explaining that it aims to fully normalize relations, in addition to signing economic agreements and pumping Qatari investments into Egypt, especially in the field of energy.

The source confirmed that a joint Egyptian-Qatari business council will be launched, which will consist of businessmen, who will work to strengthen economic relations and the fields of investment and trade between the two countries.
