• In Rennes, a school is looking to recruit new work-study students to meet business needs.

  • This Thursday, she will go "outside the walls" by settling on the terrace near several bars in Rennes and Saint-Malo to chat with young people.

  • Many business sectors are facing a shortage of work-study candidates.

How to attract young people?

Where to find them?

How to talk to them?

In Rennes, the heads of the Faculty of Trades of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry have taken a gamble.

This Thursday, their teams will set up directly on the terrace of several bars in the Breton capital known to attract a fairly young clientele.

The goal?

Approach them to try to extol the virtues of learning.

“We have more and more requests from companies who call us to tell us that they cannot find young apprentices.

The problem is that the fairs and the open days, they've been gone for a long time.

We had the idea of going to meet them, ”explains Alexandra Frappier, communication manager for the CCI trades faculty.

To find them on Thursday evenings in Rennes, the easiest way is to approach the bistros where the students have an aperitif.

“We are targeting an age group from 18 years old, disappointed with Parcoursup, people who have not yet found their orientation or who want to change it.

We offer them the possibility of settling this question of their future before the summer,” continues Alexandra Frappier.

Parcoursup, the philosophy baccalaureate, the request for missed accommodation, the great oral, the search for an apartment, money problems... after a while, that's a lot.

This Thursday, she and her teams will set up shop near the Delirium Café, place des Lices, at the Grands Gamins on the Mitterrand mall, at the Bistrot, on the esplanade de Gaulle but also at The Chill bar, in Saint-Malo.

“Restaurants opened their doors to us easily because they are directly concerned”.

In great difficulty to recruit, the hotel and catering industry is looking for motivated young people.

They are not the only ones.

This Thursday, trades, management, sales, services and industry will also be presented.

About 200 work-study positions are currently available in partner companies of the CCI of Ille-et-Vilaine on higher education courses up to bac + 5 level.
