The investigative chamber of the Rennes Court of Appeal inflicted a major setback on the magistrates and gendarmes responsible for investigating the rave party in Lieuron.

This party organized for New Year's Eve 2021 brought together 2,500 people in a shed in this small village in the south of Ille-et-Vilaine.

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the case caused a scandal when the vast majority of France was confined.

The subject was even invited to the New Year's Eve table of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.

The services of the latter had put pressure on the Rennes authorities so that the culprits were quickly found.

A first man had been arrested in his truck before three other arrests were carried out in a roommate in Saint-Luce-sur-Loire, in Loire-Atlantique.

It was there that three young men were apprehended and equipment was seized.

Procedural issues

A year and a half after this operation, the investigating chamber has just ordered the cancellation of the search, learned our colleagues from

.

Consequence: the three police custody are considered void.

The judicial control imposed at the end of these interviews is lifted.

And above all, the seized equipment which had been entrusted to the Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC) must be returned to its owners.

According to the daily, documents were missing from the procedure and reports were written after the custody.

Quite a revenge for the organizers of this wild party who had felt that they had been "humiliated and terrorized for a simple communication operation".

“Terms usually reserved for the worst criminals”

On several occasions, the Rennes prosecutor's office had justified itself, explaining that the organizers of this giant party were "actively sought" and that there would be "no impunity" in the face of these acts described as serious.

“We, organizers, are therefore actively sought after, terms usually reserved for the worst criminals,” lamented the people behind the rave.

The investigation is still in progress.
