Chosun Cho, an emeritus professor at Seoul National University, a giant in Korean economics, passed away today (23rd).

He is 94 years old.



According to the medical community, former Deputy Prime Minister Cho passed away while receiving treatment for old age at Asan Medical Center in Seoul.



His burial place was prepared in room 30 of the funeral hall of Asan Hospital in Seoul, and his funeral was on the morning of the 25th, and his funeral was in Seonyeong, Gangneung.



After leaving Gyeonggi High School and Seoul National University, the deceased served in the military as an interpreter officer and an instructor at the Military Academy at the time of the Korean War.



Then, he was called by President Roh Tae-woo, whom he had a ties to during his time as an instructor of the Sixth Army. In 1988, he served as the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economic Planning Board, and in 1992, he was appointed as the Governor of the Bank of Korea.



The deceased entered politics after being elected mayor of Seoul in the local elections in 1995, and spent a splendid political life as president and presidential candidate of the Democratic Party in 1997, as well as president and honorary governor of the Grand National Party.



Then, in 2000, when he returned to the ranks of a member of the Democratic People's Party, which he was leading at the time, he practically left the front line of politics. After that, he served as an emeritus professor at Seoul National University and Myongji University, vice chairman of the National Economic Advisory Council under the direct control of the president, and an advisor to the Korean Peninsula Advancement Foundation.
