"Bauhinia, let every heart unite... Regain expectations, start anew, and write a new story and a bright future for Hong Kong..." In a studio in Dongcheng, Beijing, Jiang Yang, a Hong Kong student at Peking University, was recording the MV for the song "Bauhinia" , when he sings emotionally, the corners of his mouth rise and his fists are clenched.

The song, which he composed to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland, will be released shortly.

In the song, he tells the story of Hong Kong in Mandarin and sings his vision for a better future.

In an exclusive interview with a reporter from China News Agency, the "post-00" Hong Kong student said that Hong Kong in the mainland is my home, and he is willing to continue to be a bridge for youth exchanges between Hong Kong and the mainland.

To be a bridge between Hong Kong and the Mainland

Born in Jiang Yang in Yuen Long, Hong Kong in 2000, when he came to Beijing for exchange at the age of 15, he planted the seeds of chasing his music dream here, and was admitted to the School of Journalism and Communication at Peking University three years later.

During his four years of schooling, he used his professional learning and musical expertise to record every bit of life in Beijing and perform to the fullest on the mainland stage.

Jiang Yang met friends from different provinces, cities and cultural backgrounds on campus, and "collided with interesting sparks" in the exchange; in order to "see both the good side of the country and the side that is getting better", he spent the summer vacation. I went to teach in a mountain village in Hunan, and brought my children to learn English, Taekwondo and singing.

He uses video to record his life and uses Mandarin, Cantonese and English to show his basic necessities, food, housing and transportation; he serves as a special correspondent for the media, leading overseas Chinese to visit the Beijing Winter Olympics; he helps Hong Kong and mainland youth communicate, and he travels with Hong Kong primary school students on a “cloud” tour of Beijing Hutongs through mobile phone live broadcasts , taste Beijing-style snacks, feel the fireworks in Beijing... He said that he will continue to tell his stories to more friends, and be a bridge between Hong Kong and mainland youths.

"Tossing" all the way and refusing to "lie down" is the motto of this 22-year-old Hong Kong youth.

He laughed and said that when he was a teenager in Hong Kong, he felt inferior and ashamed because he was ridiculed for being too fat, but he was also determined to lose weight and finally "counterattack".

"People just have to stand up and move forward." Jiang Yang believes that this is the "Lion Mountain Spirit" of perseverance.

He also said that now Hong Kong and the mainland are more closely connected, and the anti-epidemic has also achieved results. The society is changing from chaos to governance, from governance to prosperity, and it is fortunate that Hong Kong and the mainland are walking hand in hand and helping each other.

Demonstrate the positive energy of Hong Kong youth

Hong Kong was traumatized by the 2019 amendment bill.

Jiang Yang said that the driving force for the creation of the song "Bauhinia" was also from that time.

"Those young people who participated in the 'black violence' were only a small part," he said. At that time, he had the idea of writing a song, and wanted to let the outside world see that the vast majority of Hong Kong youths are full of positive energy and love the country and Hong Kong.

In order to write a good song, Jiang Yang fully understands the history of Hong Kong on the basis of mastering the knowledge of music theory, and integrates the knowledge into the song, trying his best to show the Hong Kong in his eyes.

At the beginning of this year, he started to compose, and took the Bauhinia flower, which symbolizes Hong Kong, as the source of inspiration, and used this as the song title. At the same time, he linked 24 college students from the mainland and Hong Kong to participate in the MV recording, which is intended to wish the Hong Kong SAR and the country to be closely interdependent and the four seasons to be flowers. open.

The song says, "When the oriental lighthouse lights up, everyone you and I are looking for, the fog will eventually dissipate, and the beam of light will continue for thousands of years." Jiang Yang said that Hong Kong, which was once shrouded in fog, is in the center of the city. With the support of the government and the joint efforts of all sectors of society, the country has returned to the right track and the clouds have cleared. In the past five thousand years, the country has suffered from storms and hardships. Now that it is on the road to recovery, the dawn that belongs to the Chinese nation will continue.

"Regain expectations, set off again, and write a new story and a bright future for Hong Kong." Jiang Yang sang his wishes in the song. He looked forward to the unity of Hong Kong and the mainland to write the story of Hong Kong and the country.
