In a workshop for members of the National Assembly held by the Democratic Party of Korea yesterday (23rd) at a resort in Yesan, Chungcheongnam-do, proposals were pouring in to find a way out for the party, which is in crisis due to its defeat in the presidential and local elections.

After sharing the results of the presidential and branch election evaluations held by the first re-election meeting and Better Future yesterday afternoon within the party, lawmakers continued free discussion for about two hours.

At this workshop, attention was paid to what kind of words will be said about whether or not to run for party representative, Lee Jae-myung, a standing adviser who is at the center of the theory of responsibility for election defeat.

Rep. Song Gap-seok, who explained the outcome of the Better Future evaluation, urged Lee Hoi-chang and Hwang Gyo-ahn to not run in front of this adviser, saying, "You must not go down that path."

Rep. Seol-hoon, who had already hinted at a challenge to the party, also obtained a say in a subsequent privately held free debate and suggested that Lee not appear at the national convention.

Rep. Seol, who had met with this adviser the day before, is said to have joked, "Let's just not come out with us," saying, "Yesterday, I told this adviser not to go to the convention."

Rep. Lee Byung-hoon, who is close with Rep. Seol, said, "Rep. Seol shouldn't come out," and laughter broke out in the hall.

Spokesperson Shin Hyun-young said at the briefing, "We should not blame others for the election results, but think that it is our fault, and there was a time of reflection to discuss what needs to be improved."

Concerns about the aspect of conflict between factions led to criticism of fandom politics from some supporters of Kang Sung-in's pro-moon and pro-myung family.

Spokesperson Shin said, "There was talk that we had to boldly draw a line with them, as swearing and abusive language are the problem in fandom politics, not the loyal supporters."

At the same time, it is reported that there is a voice that calls for a fundamental renewal even with respect to the sexual misconduct issue, which has been controversial due to the behavior of Rep. Choi Kang-wook and the ex-Rep. Park Wan-joo.

As the theme of this workshop is people's livelihood, competence, and innovation, the opinion that it is necessary to show competence by preempting progressive agendas in policy aspects such as real estate, process issues, and energy crisis was also mentioned with great importance.

It is said that there were many voices saying that in order to show the aspect of a party with authority, it should play a role that can properly check and monitor the Yun Seok-yeol government.

In particular, some have argued that a proper personnel hearing is necessary for a minister who has not yet been appointed to prevent the current government from monopolizing personnel.

Spokesperson Shin explained, "There was talk that the party should be formed as soon as possible in order to play a proper role as an opposition party."
