15 departments are placed in orange vigilance for risk of storms and heat waves, said Météo France on Wednesday.

The stormy wave now concerns all the departments of western Aquitaine as well as the departments of the Poitou-Charentes region.

These storms will then move north and will affect Haute-Vienne and Creuse in the early morning.

The stormy episodes continue this Wednesday.

Météo France has placed 15 departments on orange storm and heat wave vigilance in its forecast bulletin.

In the west of the country, the departments concerned only by the storm warning are: Landes, Gironde, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Creuse, Charente and Dordogne.

To the east, Saône-et-Loire, Jura, Ain, Rhône, Loire and Isère are on orange storm and heat wave alert.

A lull is then expected in the middle of the morning even if these storms can still persist in Haute-Vienne and Creuse.

Under these storms, local hailstorms, wind gusts of around 80 to 90 km/h (less intensity for these two parameters than during last Monday evening's event) and heavy rains with local accumulations up to 30 to 50 mm are expected, specifies the meteorological institute.
