“In connection with the urgent and urgent need to ensure security and stability in Ukraine, the United States is providing the National Police of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine with specialized precision-guided firearms, accessories, and ammunition,” the State Department explained.

In particular, it is planned to transfer 30 .338 Lapua Magnum rifles, sights, cartridges and other components.

The supply of weapons should increase the ability of Ukrainian officials to “ensure the rule of law” in the country, the document says.

At the same time, the State Department clarified that the “enormous scale of American and international assistance” to the military and law enforcement agencies in Ukraine led to a shortage of products that are in high demand, as well as long delays in deliveries.

Thus, there is currently an "acute shortage" of Western-made military products, including .338 Lapua Magnum cartridges.

It is assumed that the weapons will be transferred by Goldbelt Security, and the cost of the purchase is estimated at $695,000.

Earlier, Washington announced a $1 billion military assistance package for Kyiv. It will include artillery pieces, coast guard systems, as well as ammunition for missile systems and artillery.

The Russian authorities have repeatedly said that arms supplies from the United States and other NATO countries to Ukraine are prolonging the conflict and exacerbating problems.
