Democratic Party's leadership received a report today (22nd) of a proposal for severe disciplinary action against Rep. Choi Kang-wook, who was accused of sexual harassment.

While Rep. Choi is going to apply for a retrial, the backlash within the party over this disciplinary action is not formidable.

Democratic Party's Emergency Response Committee held a meeting this morning and was informed of the disciplinary action against Rep. Choi Kang-wook.

Previously, the Party Ethics Tribunal gave Rep. Choi Kang-wook a six-month suspension of party membership.

He explained that he had taken into account the fact that he made inappropriate remarks in the presence of female aides in an online meeting with the party's judges on April 28, and that he caused psychological pain to the victims by continuing to deny during the clarification process.

Chairman Woo Sang-ho of the Emergency Response Committee emphasized that the decision of the Party Ethics Tribunal should be respected, and demanded that the party refrain from arguing over disciplinary action.

[Woo Sang-ho / Democratic Party Emergency Response Committee Chairman: I urge you to refrain from seeing that the members of the party are divided into pros and cons on this issue and start a rebellion again, as there is a possibility that it may not be seen as desirable in the eyes of the public.]

Evolution at the leadership level Despite the attempts, the conflict within the party over Rep. Choi's disciplinary decision is unlikely to subside.

Rep. Choi announced on social media last night that he would follow the procedure for applying for a retrial given by the party constitution and bylaws, saying that he would protect his human rights and honor.

Then, Park Ji-hyeon, the former chairman of the Liberation Army, who had demanded a heavy punishment for Rep. Choi, fired at Rep. Choi, who still did not admit his mistake and was dragging the party into the depths of the abyss, saying he was infinitely ashamed.

On the bulletin boards of the Democratic Rights Party, posts such as "Remove Rep. Choi's disciplinary action" and "Discipline former Vice Chairman Park Ji-hyeon" continue to appear.
