Scandal chasing a state secretary in the French government

The French judiciary has opened an investigation after two rape complaints were filed against Chrysola Zakharopoulou, Secretary of State for Development Affairs in the French government, the Public Prosecution Office in Paris announced Wednesday.

Zakharopoulou, a Frenchwoman of Greek descent, holds the position of State Secretary in charge of Development Affairs, Francophonie and International Partnerships.

The weekly "Marian" newspaper, which revealed the details of the scandal, stated that the two complaints related to facts that took place in the context of her work as a gynecologist.
