A 19-year-old man and a 33-year-old man were convicted in the district court for aiding and abetting the murder of the 25-year-old woman at Notviken in Luleå.

The Court of Appeal, on the other hand, made a completely different assessment and acquitted both men of involvement in the murder.

Prosecutor Jonas Fjellström understands the reasoning but thinks the 19-year-old should have been convicted of protecting a criminal,

which you hear more about in the clip above.

The call to the Riksdag

The 20-year-old man who was singled out as the shooter is also convicted in the Court of Appeal for having committed the murder.

The punishment will be 14 years, which is the highest he can get considering his age at the time of the crime, and with the legislation that applied at the time.

However, the Court of Appeal does not consider that the prison sentence would have been life if he was over 21, but 18 years.

Even if the number of years in prison for the 20-year-old had been the same regardless, the prosecutor believes that the Riksdag's littering regarding murders has not been followed by the Court of Appeal.

To cold-bloodedly execute a defenseless woman in that way with five shots to the head.

I think that the Riksdag, when they tightened the rules for life imprisonment, had in mind that this would probably be life imprisonment.

In that part, I am a little surprised, says Jonas Fjellström.
