In the early morning of June 21, local time, a traditional sunrise ceremony for aboriginal people was held in the square in front of Toronto City Hall, Canada.

The summer solstice is also Canada's National Aboriginal Day.

This is the first time the annual Aboriginal ceremony has resumed in front of Toronto City Hall after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The sunrise ceremony was presided over by a local Aboriginal elder.

A female wise man led the crowd to perform the salute of water, and explained the traditional culture of the aboriginal people reflected in the ceremony.

The ceremony ended with traditional drumming played by several young Aboriginal drummers.

Since 1996, Canada has designated the Summer Solstice as a National Aboriginal Day, in order to showcase the unique culture and history of Aboriginal people, and to promote official and Aboriginal reconciliation.
