A report on nationalist "indoctrination" through history textbooks concludes that the Generalitat works side by side with publishers to "turn education into a pool of future nationalist voters."

This is what Antonio Jimeno, president of the AMES union, maintains, which has found multiple cases in which Spain is presented as "an enemy of the culture, language, rights and freedoms of the Catalans and the rulers of Catalonia as its defenders heroic”.

Among the examples that are referenced throughout the extensive report -of more than 200 pages- it is outlined how the origins of Catalanism are linked in a deliberately erroneous way to a "falsified" War of Succession, in which a "catalonia defeated politically on September 11, 1714» instead of showing the conflict as a struggle between the Austrian and Bourbon sides.

"The aim is to make the student believe that all of Catalonia was against Felipe V, when, as in any war, there were people who supported each of the sides", concludes the study by providing a fragment of Barcanova's History book for Baccalaureate Editorial.

In the same way, the authors of the report determine, graphic "caricatures" are used to represent the Monarchy in the manuals in order to "ridicule the highest institution in the country."

The study provides the example of a vignette of Queen Elizabeth II leaving for France and underlines that the same is not done with the personalities of the History of Catalonia, always represented with paintings or photographs.

With the same desire, and already addressing the Second Republic, it is "simplistically justified" in the History of Spain textbook by Edebé Editorial that "it was proclaimed as a consequence of the mismanagement of the Monarchy" and "the destruction of heritage and murders" of religious assuring in the History book of the Vicens Vives publishing house that "it did not have much relevance in Catalonia", when, remember the teachers who have prepared the report, 2,000 religious were murdered in the region only during the first six months of the Civil War.

When addressing the Franco period, the authors of the report lament, it is asserted that "Catalonia as such lost the war", "implying that Catalonia was at war against the rest of Spain" and there is talk of "cultural genocide in Catalonia" with in order to "demonstrate the loss of Catalan identity and thus be able to justify Catalan nationalism its cultural claims".

They support these conclusions in the Barcanova manual.

The arrival of emigrants from other regions of Spain is explained "as if they came from territories with great cultural and linguistic differences."

In the same textbook, the authors denounce, "they treat them as minorities unable to adapt."

«The peripheral neighborhoods where the immigrants settled, due to the dominant language spoken -Castilian- meant that the genuine Catalan tradition was marginalized», states the same textbook for the Second year of Baccalaureate.

The study particularly emphasizes that in some manuals the syllabus is extended until 2018, "which is too recent to have a historical perspective, but it does make it possible to ideologically predispose some young people who will vote for the first time after a few months" after finishing the Baccalaureate.

Reference to the consultation of 9-N.

In this sense, the example of the Barcanova publishing house stands out, in which reference is made to the illegal consultation of 9-N, promoted by Artur Mas and that the textbook justifies by “the budget cuts and the deficit limit imposed by the Government Spanish".

But, the guide points out, "it opened the legal path to proceed to a non-binding consultation on the opinion of citizens regarding the independence of the Spanish State."

"Despite the prohibition of the Constitutional Court, the consultation was held and obtained a participation of more than two million people," he narrates.

The signatories of the report consider that, "to prevent students from continuing to be indoctrinated in partisan ideologies incompatible with the Constitution", a single test should be introduced at the end of the Baccalaureate stage for all the autonomous communities, the passing of which is necessary to obtain title.
