Half a century after the misdeeds of the famous Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, another couple of outlaws hit the headlines in the United States: Carol and Johnny Williams indeed robbed, between 1986 and 1994, more than fifty banks for a total loot of 879,357 dollars!

But unlike their “illustrious” predecessors, Johnny and Carol have – fortunately – never had the slightest victim.

"Forced to participate in robberies to protect my family"

On the occasion of the presentation, at the American film festival of Tribeca 2022, of a documentary which looks back on their journey, Carolyn Marie Williams confides that she let herself embark on this dirty adventure out of fear: "Johnny told me that he intended to rob a first bank;

When I told him that I didn't want to participate, he threatened me and promised to kill my whole family!

".

Arrested in 1994, Carol was sentenced to 20 years in prison and Johnny received a 92-year sentence… but was released in 2021, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“If I could go back, I certainly wouldn't marry him, regrets Carol.

I have no other advice to give than: "Get to know your partner very, very well before committing yourself for life".
