French president rejects prime minister's resignation

French President Emmanuel Macron rejected today the resignation of French Prime Minister Elizabeth Born, "so that the government can continue its tasks and act in these days," the French presidency announced Tuesday.

In the aftermath of Sunday's legislative elections, Macron lost his absolute majority in Parliament.

In this context, the president will hold "the necessary political consultations (...) in order to identify possible constructive solutions to serve the French," according to the presidency, before a series of meetings with party leaders Tuesday and Wednesday at the Elysee Palace.
