With three pre-opening shows, the first Frankfurt Fashion Week organized by the city itself got off to a brilliant start.

The catwalk in the trading floor of the stock exchange was the perfect setting for René Storck's puristic, elegant creations, it was the opening highlight.

Irena Soprano staged her glittering robes in the Opéra restaurant in the Alte Oper, and Samuel Gärtner showed his motley collection against a backdrop of love locks and a skyline in the evening light on the Iron Bridge.

On Monday, the cloister of the Carmelite monastery with the Ratgeb frescoes was added as a backdrop for the opening show by seven up-and-coming designers from the Ukraine and young bespoke tailors.

The fashion spectrum ranged from strict design in muted tones to Dallas-style glamor and a touch of colorful Disneyland.

A billion clicks

Even if there are only a few nationally known names, the audience's great joy about the event can be felt.

In the rows of spectators, many mobile phones were always out to send pictures of the shows around the world, especially from influencers with thousands of followers on social networks.

Sevinc Yerli, who organizes most of the events with her Fashion Lounge, spoke at the opening of the one billion clicks that the event in winter brought in.

They show a side of Frankfurt that has not been well known up to now and can thus contribute to making the city more interesting for creative people.

Because they prove that there are exciting places and an enthusiasm for fashion that many would not have guessed in the financial metropolis.

It would therefore be desirable that this one Fashion Week would not remain the same and that the city would develop concepts together with the trade fair that would continue to offer creative people in the city the opportunity to present themselves.

That could also stimulate retail.

A good start has been made.
