“The plan of the operation of the Kyiv regime provided for the infliction of massive air and artillery strikes on Zmeiny Island, followed by a landing and its capture,” he said.
During the air raid, the Ukrainian side deployed over 15 attack and reconnaissance drones, including two Bayraktar TB2s.
In addition, a US Air Force Global Hawk RQ-4 strategic reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicle was spotted over Zmein.
Attempts were also made to strike the island with Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missiles, Uragan multiple launch rocket systems and M777 155-mm howitzers.
According to him, Russian air defense systems (ZRPK "Pantsir" and SAM "Tor") destroyed all enemy weapons fired at Zmeinoye.
13 UAVs, four Tochka-U missiles and 21 Uragan MLRS rockets were shot down in the air.
“None of the Ukrainian fire weapons reached the target on Zmeiny Island,” Konashenkov said.
In connection with the failed fire defeat, the Ukrainian side refused to land.
“Convinced of the failure of the attempt to seize the island, the Kyiv regime went on a new adventure in relation to the objects of the Russian gas production infrastructure in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
After eight in the morning, anti-ship missiles and the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicle hit the BK-1 and Krym-1 gas production platforms.
As a result of the Ukrainian provocation, a strong fire started on the BK-1 platform, a threat of an ecological catastrophe was created in this area of the Black Sea, ”the representative of the Russian Defense Ministry emphasized.
As a response, the Russian Armed Forces launched a strike with Onyx cruise missiles at the Shkolny military airfield near Odessa, where hangars with Ukrainian Bayraktar TB2 drones were destroyed.
In addition, two artillery platoons of 155-mm M777 howitzers were eliminated on Kubansky Island, while Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft hit two S-300 air defense launchers in the Odessa region.
