• The RN won the most constituencies in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais.

  • The presidential majority lost six deputies compared to 2017.

  • The left regains color without progressing enormously.

We'll erase everything and start again.

In five years, the political landscape of the Nord and Pas-de-Calais has changed a lot.

The domination of the presidential majority is over, it is now the National Rally which sends the most deputies to the two departments combined during the second round of the legislative elections.

A real thunderbolt on the historic lands of a left which raises its head a little when the right (LR, UDI, DVD) collapses, keeping only three seats out of eight.

All in an ocean of abstention (more than 55%) even if it drops a little compared to 2017.

The RN tidal wave

Whether in Pas-de-Calais or in the North, the National Rally has clearly become the leading regional party in the legislative elections by winning no less than 12 of the 33 constituencies in the two departments.

If we knew that the RN was well established in the mining basin, it was less the case so far in the North.

But with six deputies against only one in 2017, the most populous department in France is now on a par with its neighbor.

Behind known and re-elected figures such as Marine Le Pen (61.03%), Sébastien Chenu (57.15%) or Bruno Bilde (56.21%), the RN brings new faces into the National Assembly like Caroline Parmentier (53.31%), press adviser to Marine Le Pen, who won in the 9th district of Pas-de-Calais or Matthieu Marchio (50.33%) in the 16th district of the North.

The left picks up some color

It's not really the big night but the left is picking up colors in the Nord and Pas-de-Calais.

With eight deputies (six Nupes and two DVG), the left is doing better than five years ago when it collapsed with only five representatives in the National Assembly.

Behind the essential LFI Adrien Quatennens (65.24%) and Ugo Bernalicis (57.99%), easily reelected in Lille, without forgetting the PCF Fabien Roussel (54.49%) reelected in Saint-Amand, new faces appear as David Guiraud (59.93%) elected in Roubaix or Roger Vico (56.26%), socialist and loyal to Martine Aubry, who beat the former Macronist minister Laurent Pietraszewski in the 11th district of the North.

Bourguignon and Ensemble take a slap

Elected in the 10th district of the North, Gérald Darmanin was indeed the only member of the presidential majority to have a smile on Sunday evening.

With only ten deputies against 16 in 2017, Together!

is no longer the leading regional party.

The most striking symbol of this slap is clearly that of Brigitte Bourguignon.

Beaten by very little (49.94%) in the sixth constituency of Pas-de-Calais, the Minister of Health will have to resign from the government in the coming days.

The double penalty in a nightmarish evening for the presidential majority.
