"In the interests of foreign citizens": the FSB detained employees of the tax authorities for collecting information about the security forces

Employees of the FSB of Russia, in cooperation with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the KGB of Belarus, stopped the collection of personal data about the security forces in the interests of citizens of foreign states, the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia reported.

“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, in cooperation with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the State Security Committee of the Republic of Belarus, suppressed the illegal activities of representatives of private investigation and tax authorities related to the illegal collection of legally protected information in the interests of third parties, including foreign citizens,” it says. in the message.

According to the agency, since 2019, the detainees have collected information and handed over to customers information about more than 30 citizens - we are talking about military personnel, law enforcement and law enforcement officials - as a result of which state security was damaged.

The Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for Moscow, in turn, added that criminal cases are being investigated under the articles “taking a bribe” and “mediation in bribery”.

With respect to two defendants, a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen, in relation to two more accomplices - house arrest.

“According to the investigation, in the period from 2019 to 2020, three employees of the tax authorities entered into a criminal conspiracy in order to obtain illegal funds.

Having access to information systems, for money, they provided through an intermediary information about the sources of income of individuals, accounts opened with credit institutions, addresses of registration and property, as well as other information constituting a secret protected by law, for representatives of the detective agency.

During the search, mobile devices, computers, laptops, documentation and other items of interest to the investigation were found and seized.
