According to a press release on the EC website, the Kyiv authorities are obliged to carry out judicial reform, introduce anti-corruption laws and adopt documents preventing the oligarchy, money laundering, change the legislation on national minorities and harmonize the media law in line with the EU directive.

The European Commission noted that the process of accession of any country to the EU is based on established criteria and conditions.

“This allows any country ... to progress based on its own achievements.

At the same time, this means that the status of an EU candidate can be canceled if the basic conditions are not met, ”the message on the EC website says.

On June 17, the European Commission recommended that Ukraine be granted the status of a candidate for EU membership, but subject to a number of important reforms.

This issue will be considered during the summit of the heads of states of the association, which will be held next week.

Putin said that Moscow is not opposed to the prospect of Ukraine's membership in the European Union, since the EU, unlike NATO, is not a military organization.

At the same time, he suggested that Ukraine would require very large subsidies from Europe, which would still not be used to restore critical industries.
