Karl Olive, former Canal+ journalist and mayor of Poissy, elected deputy

Already mayor of Poissy since 2014, Karl Olive was elected, this Sunday, deputy for the 12th district of Yvelines in the second round of the legislative elections.

won 59.94% of the votes cast, leaving far behind his opponent of the day Edwin Legris (Nupes), 40.06%.

"I've always dreamed of doing a public job since I was a kid, that's why I started in journalism," the 53-year-old elected official, born in Poissy, told AFP.

He began his career in a local TV station in Yvelines, then joined Canal+ as a freelancer before becoming its sports director.

He left the UMP in 2017

After leaving Canal+ in 2007, he "falls into politics" because he sees his city, Poissy, "running straight into the wall" while the left wins the municipality.

Above all a "Gaullist", he joined the UMP and became general councilor in 2011. Then, in 2014, he was elected mayor of Poissy, then re-elected six years later in the first round with 75% of the votes, this time under the miscellaneous right label.

The one who created the association of elected officials "Generation Field" while leaving the UMP in 2017, has been seen several times alongside Emmanuel Macron.

Great debate during the crisis of "yellow vests", the first municipal vaccination center, trips during his campaign... the head of state came several times to Poissy, "to confront the field", assures Karl Olive.
