The Germans enjoy the summer as if the virus had disappeared.
It has lost its terror.
Thanks to the vaccinations, the disease is in many cases mild;
there are hardly any shocking reports from the intensive care units.
And hasn't the state also confirmed by lifting the mask requirement that the pandemic will take a break in the summer, as in previous years?
Unfortunately, the virus does not go on vacation, but is spreading again in Germany.
That's why nobody has to panic, the Minister of Health is right about that.
But you should not let go of caution in view of the summer wave.
And the government at least has to remember that the next pandemic winter will definitely come - and with it the need to reintroduce the obligation to wear masks.
The traffic light has to go into the curve
The traffic light coalition, in whose chest several hearts are beating in the fight against the epidemic, does not want to make the decision yet: the three governing parties do not want to spoil the joy of summer for the Germans.
In the fall, however, they have to take the curve quite a bit so as not to be surprised by the early onset of winter, even with summer tyres.
It would not be the first time that the virus has caused German politics to skid.
