Harvest of the third session of the "Sharjah Consultant": 3 draft laws, 162 complaints and 73 recommendations

The Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah concluded its third regular session of the tenth legislative term with its seventeenth session, which was held on Thursday morning under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Council, Ali Mehd Al-Suwaidi, and in the presence of the members of the Council.

The Secretary-General of the Council, Ahmed Saeed Al-Jarwan, explained that the Council held 17 public sessions, during which it witnessed in-depth and accurate discussions and a meaningful dialogue, which enabled the Council to reach objective recommendations and deliberate and purposeful decisions, noting that the session witnessed the discussion of the policy of 6 government departments and bodies, which are: Human Resources, the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, the Housing Department, the Sharjah Sports Council, the Planning and Survey Department, and the Sharjah Police General Command.

He added: "The number of applicants on general topics reached 98 members, and the number of speech applicants was 30 members, with a total of 296 interventions, and 329 questions for officials of departments and bodies, while the Council came to adopt issuing 73 recommendations that covered all aspects of these departments' policies, competencies, and services provided to the public and auditors."

Al-Jarwan indicated that the Council discussed, during the current session, 3 draft laws referred by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, which are: (a draft law on organizing the Sharjah Education Academy - a draft law on the general budget of Sharjah government departments and bodies for the fiscal year 2022 - and a draft law on reorganizing Labor Standards Development Authority in the Emirate of Sharjah.

He pointed out that during its plenary sessions during the current session, the council raised 3 parliamentary questions, and the council's committees held 40 meetings, 36 working visits, and 4 meetings and working visits to the council office.

He revealed that the Council received approximately 162 personal and electronic complaints, indicating that these complaints were studied and information and statistics were collected from the relevant departments and bodies, and the Council took the appropriate decisions, while it received 14 proposals, including 4 members and 10 from the public.
