In August 2018, the police were alerted to a home in Mijas outside Malaga, where two Swedish men in their 30s were found tied up and tortured.

One man had been shot several times and died on the spot.

One of the men, despite his injuries, is said to have managed to carry out an escape attempt and then got in touch with a neighbor who in turn alerted the police according to the newspaper Diario Sur.

Today, the man lives with a protected identity.

Now one of the four accused has confessed to the murder, and he was convicted on Friday of murder.

The three other men were convicted of aiding and abetting murder.

What punishment the men will receive has not yet been announced.

According to Expressen, Spanish police have previously stated that the murder is linked to drug trafficking.

People from criminal networks in Sweden have in recent years established themselves on the Spanish sunny coast and Swedes are suspected in several cases of being behind both shootings and other acts of violence in the area.
