Russian President Vladimir Putin today proclaimed the end of the unipolar world led by the United States despite attempts by the West to preserve it

"by all means."

That era "is over, despite all attempts to maintain and preserve it by all means.

Change is a natural process of history

," Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Putin accused the United States of believing itself to be "God's messenger" after claiming victory in the Cold War after the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991.

"Claiming victory in the Cold War, proclaiming itself God's envoy on earth, the US has no obligation, only interests and, by the way, those interests are sacred," he stressed.

He warned that "the recipes here don't work" and

accused Western leaders of ignoring "revolutionary and tectonic changes"

, which he considered "irreversible".

"They, the United States, do not seem to realize that in the last decades on the planet, new and powerful centers have been formed and are increasingly making themselves heard, each of which develops its political systems and public institutions, and implements their own models of economic growth," he said.

And he added that these countries have the right to defend and guarantee their "national interests."

"They believe that the hegemony of the West in world politics and economy is a constant, it is eternal

. There is nothing that is eternal. Our colleagues not only deny reality, but also try to hinder the march of history, they think as in the century past, they are hostage to their own lies," he stressed.

To explain the decline of the West, he recalled that the US has gone from being an exporting country to an importing economy, which has caused a global economic crisis with its irresponsible financial policy.

As for the European Union, he considered that the bloc has lost "political sovereignty"

by giving up its autonomy and independence in favor of Washington.

In turn, he denied that the current "special military operation" in Ukraine has anything to do with the current economic cataclysms and blamed the West for a possible future famine in the world.
