The Swedish Transport Administration wants to increase capacity and safety on the Dalabanan, which starts in Uppsala and continues towards Borlänge and Mora.

As part of the work, the railway crossings at Börjegatan, S: t Olofsgatan and S: t Persgatan would be rebuilt into level crossings - in the case of Börjegatan through a tunnel under the tracks.

The advantages are several, such as the reduction of dangerous track running or the fact that cars crash at a crossing and slow down train traffic.

Neither pedestrians nor motorists are forced to wait for barriers to be lowered.

"Not prioritized right now"

But now the Swedish Transport Administration announces that it is prioritizing removing the tunnel under Börjegatan - for the time being.

- The funding for this will reduce disruptions to train traffic.

Then this is not a priority right now, says Charlii Enström, the Swedish Transport Administration's project manager.

The tunnel should have been completed in 2025. There is no new date for when it will be built.
