The police seized an increasing number of drugs in Kalmar in 2021. During an autumn month, drugs were seized to a street value of 1.4 million, all of which are believed to have belonged to the same criminal network: the Norrliden gang.

The 22-year-old who was shot to death in February was a key figure in the network.

In recent years, his name appears frequently in several investigations into drug sales and seized drugs.

The police's theory is that the large drug seizures, and the debts they are believed to have led to, may have been the prelude to the first murder.

Since 2019, the Norrliden gang's informal leader has been serving a long prison sentence, which has led to the non-hierarchical organization of recent years where many sellers in Norrliden share large deliveries of drugs, according to several sources to SVT.

Several key people in the Norrliden gang also went to prison in connection with the seizures, which opened up for changes in the group.

Challenger from outside

SVT has spoken to sources close to Norrlidengänget.

They say that the violence is primarily about a challenger from outside who has now seen the chance to enter Kalmar's drug market.

A 24-year-old man, who grew up in Kalmar and who previously sold drugs, returned after several years of absence in 2021. According to the sources, this man is the one who tricked the 22-year-old into the meeting at Kattrumpan in Kalmar where he was shot to death.

Quick revenge

Revenge came quickly: A month later, a 25-year-old was shot to death on Ängöleden.

The 25-year-old had close friendships with the 24-year-old, and was considered by the Norrliden gang to be part of the murder plot on Kattrumpan.

The perception within the Norrliden gang is that the murder of Kattrumpan was ordered from outside, according to the sources.

The brain is said to be a man who grew up in Kalmar who is a childhood friend of both the 24-year-old and the murdered 25-year-old.

The goal of the first murder must have been to knock out several key people in the network and take over the drug trade.

- He is greedy and has big ambitions, he wants problems with everyone in Kalmar.

He has no big organization, but a lot of money, says a source.

The prosecutor who is leading the investigation after the murder of Kattrumpan does not want to comment on what motives are being investigated around the first murder.

No one has been arrested yet.
