• Investigation Luis Lorenzo's aunt's caregiver tells the judge how she went from "being good to being bad" after settling in Rivas

The judge investigating the poisoning of

María Isabel Suárez

, allegedly at the hands of actor Luis Lorenzo and his partner, niece of the deceased, has decided this Friday to maintain provisional freedom for both.

However, as reported by the lawyer for the private prosecution to the media upon leaving the Court, the magistrate has maintained the

withdrawal of the passports

as a precautionary measure in addition to the obligation to appear weekly in this judicial body, as requested the prosecution.

Both Luis Lorenzo and his partner, Arancha Suárez Palomino, have attended the 'vistilla' held in the Court of Instruction number 9 of the Madrid municipality of Arganda del Rey.

The lawyer, who represents the family of the deceased elderly woman, has assured that the prosecutor has maintained his request that both be released on bail

"despite stating that there are indications of murder."

"The position of the Prosecutor's Office does not seem logical to me and that for such a serious crime it does not dare to request provisional detention. I believe that there is plenty of material for them to enter prison," he said.

The representative of the Public Ministry alleges that precautionary measures have already been imposed on them and that

there is no risk of escape

or destruction of evidence.

In addition, the prosecution attorney has pointed out that they will request that the doctors who prescribed the medications to María Isabel Suárez testify.

On the other hand, the defense lawyer has expressed the "contained joy" that the measure adopted by the judge supposes for those investigated, although he has called for caution while waiting for how the process evolves.

He has also considered that there is no "convincing" evidence to determine that the old woman died of poisoning, since the technical reports "are not sentences."

"The reports cannot say that the cause of death was poisoning or who the perpetrators were," he pointed out.

The

death of María Isabel took place on June 28, 2021

at the Rivas Vaciamadrid home of Luis Lorenzo and his partner, who transferred the body to Asturias for burial, at which time the brother of the deceased suspected that death could not be natural and reported it to the Civil Guard.

The autopsy revealed that the 85-year-old woman died of "poisoning" of "homicidal etiology", finding blood levels of cadmium and manganese 200 and 20 times higher than normal, respectively.
