Most of it is free after the municipal board has decided to contribute SEK 700,000 so that children and young people will have something to do during the summer holidays.
- We have previously received funding from the National Board of Health and Welfare, but this year we did not receive it.
Then the municipality chose to invest its own funds so that children and young people can still come up with fun things during the summer holidays, says Kimmie Åhlén leisure and sports developer at Kristinehamn municipality.

One of the most popular free activities for young people in Kristinehamn is YMCA's sports school at Kvarndammen.
160 children and young people between the ages of 7 and 15 can try a number of different play and sports activities for three weeks.
Everything from football to lacrosse and cheerleading.
The sports school then ends with an overnight stay in a tent at the campsite.
- I think it's good to not just sit at home, and I have many friends here, says Alfred Genelöv, 11 years old who thinks it's super fun at the sports school.
