"We can confirm that high-ranking officials for Turkey, Finland and Sweden will meet high-ranking NATO officials at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels on Monday," a spokesman for the defense alliance wrote to SVT.

What will be discussed at the meeting is the concern about security that Turkey has previously expressed.

The purpose shall be to make progress regarding Sweden's and Finland's NATO applications.

Turkey has accused both Sweden and Finland of colluding with, among others, the PKK and set a number of requirements for approving the countries' NATO applications.

Among other things, extraditions of Kurds from Sweden and Finland have been demanded.

"Do my best"

The rapid application process that both NATO and the prospective member states have wanted is threatened by Turkey's no.

Intense talks have been going on in recent weeks, at the same time as Turkish representatives have repeatedly stated that Turkey's no stands firm.

- We are talking about the fight against terrorism and other concerns that Turkey has raised.

I do my utmost to get that process going in the right direction, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Thursday when he was asked about the talks.

It is unclear what, if any, progress has been made for Sweden.

Both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government have been silent about how the talks went.

The NATO summit will be held in Madrid on 29 and 30 June.

One of the issues that will then be on the agenda is the new applications.

SVT has applied for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S).
