On June 16, local time, French President Emmanuel Macron (center), German Chancellor Scholz (right) and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi took a train bound for Kyiv.

  On the 16th, German Chancellor Scholz, French President Macron and Italian Prime Minister Draghi visited Kiev, capital of Ukraine, and held talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky.

Romanian President Johannes also visited Kyiv on the same day.

  French President Emmanuel Macron said after talks with Zelensky that the leaders of the four countries supported Ukraine's immediate candidacy for EU membership. "Europe is on Ukraine's side and will continue to stand on the same side until victory."

  Draghi said Italy would support the approach at the next European Council meeting.

"The most important message we want to convey during this visit is that Italy wants Ukraine to join the EU...Italy, France and Germany are here to support Ukraine unconditionally."

  According to "Lianhe Zaobao", a person familiar with the matter said that the European Commission is expected to make recommendations on the status of Ukraine's candidate member state on the 17th.

  Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a document applying for EU membership in February.

On May 9, Zelensky announced that the Uzbek side had submitted the text of the second part of the questionnaire on the application for EU candidate status.

The EU said it would draw conclusions on the content of the questionnaire in June.
