After the government on Wednesday voted no to both its own spring budget and the opposition's budget proposal, as a result of the stopped compromise proposal with the Center Party on increased guarantee pension, the government today presents its amending budget.

There is the new compromise proposal with which, if voted through by the Riksdag, means an increase in the guarantee pension from this autumn.

- It is the same spring budget but with this compromise proposal on better pensions for the most disadvantaged pensioners, says Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg (S), who is in Luxembourg, to Morgonstudion.

It is not yet clear when the Riksdag will take a position, but Mikael Damberg expects that it will happen sometime next week.

- We submit the proposal today and hand it over to the Riksdag and then it is the Riksdag that decides what speed and process they want.

I believe that it is possible to vote on this before midsummer, he says.

"Big differences"

The tours around the budget agreement have been many and the tone during the week has been harsh from several of the government's and the opposition's party representatives.

The opposition's budget proposal, which the government voted down, also included a pension increase.

However, the opposition believes that too large items in the judiciary and arms deliveries to Ukraine had to be erased in the government's proposal.

But Mikael Damberg points to the investments that are already being made in the defense and in the police.

- When you weigh a budget together, you have to make a whole work and then we have presented a proposal that right now prioritizes not least the most disadvantaged pensioners who are having a very tough time right now, he says.

Kakabaveh can decide

This time too, the political savage Amineh Kakabaveh can play a decisive role.

She has previously made demands on the government regarding arms exports to Turkey in as well as extra efforts against oppression of honor.

But according to Damberg, no talks have been held between him and Kakabaevh.

- We have not made any compromise with Amineh on the part of the government.

We have put forward proposals that we think are important and good, he says.
