British Prime Minister Boris Johnson makes a surprise visit to Kiiu, Ukraine.

Prime Minister Johnson posted a picture of him meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kiiu on the 17th (local time) and said, "It's nice to come back to Kiiu."

Prime Minister Johnson's visit to Kiiu is the second since the invasion of Ukraine.

He met President Zelensky in Kiiu in April and even walked the streets together.

This is an unannounced visit.

Prime Minister Johnson abruptly canceled a major party event that day, right after the by-election is next week, and did not give detailed reasons.

Prior to this, the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and Romania announced their support for Ukraine to grant EU candidate status at a joint press conference after meeting with President Zelensky in Kiiu the day before.

President Zelensky also announced Prime Minister Johnson's visit through a Telegram channel.

"It has been proven that the UK's support for Ukraine is strong," Zelensky wrote.

"We share a common view of Ukraine's victory, and I appreciate the strong support of the UK," he added.

He posted a picture of a meeting with Prime Minister Johnson in front of the presidential building.

The two leaders are known to have discussed military support measures such as heavy weapons and air defense systems, as well as economic support and strengthening sanctions against Russia.

"Today, I met Prime Minister Johnson, our good friend and ally, with President Zelensky," said Andriy Yermac, chief of staff at the presidential office, via Telegram.

He added, "The need to demand compensation for damage caused by Russia to Ukraine as well as tightening sanctions against Russia and ensuring the security of Ukraine were discussed."

The British Prime Minister's Office said Prime Minister Johnson had offered to support Ukrainian military training.

This is equivalent to training up to 10,000 people every 120 days.
