Aged 27 and already known to justice, he was indicted for "violence with a weapon resulting in death without intention of giving it in a state of legal recidivism", before being placed in pre-trial detention.
In police custody, "he admitted having exercised violence on the victim but disputes having used a truncheon to do so", specifies the prosecution.
The fight was reportedly over a private dispute.
