Data security is of great importance;

It protects sensitive personal data - such as important business documents and family photos - from loss or falling into the hands of strangers.

external hard disk

The German technology expert Lotus Labs explained that the simplest way to secure data is to use an external hard disk and keep it in a safe place.

For this purpose, a 2.5-inch disk with a capacity of 5 TB can be used, which can be connected to a computer via a USB port.

Labs recommended the use of the traditional hard drive known as "HDD" (HDD), as it outperforms the modern hard disk "SD" (SSD) in terms of durability and longevity of data retention.

cloud storage

For his part, German technology expert Sven Schulz said that cloud storage is one of the ways to store data, explaining that data is stored on Internet servers in what is known as the "cloud".

Schultz added that cloud storage takes a long time, and also involves the risk of data loss, so those who want to resort to cloud storage must know the location of the server and how the service provider deals with the stored data, and it is better to encrypt the data before uploading it.

USB memory modules

Labs pointed out that USB memory units are not suitable for long-term data storage, due to their lack of high quality, so they are suitable for storing data for a temporary period only.

unit "people"

Schultz pointed out that the network storage unit known as "NAS" falls within the data storage methods, explaining that the storage unit is connected to the router so that the data is available on the network.

A network storage unit contains one or more hard disks arranged in a logical order.

The disadvantage of this method is the difficulty of its creation on the one hand, as well as the risk of spreading malware on the network, threatening the integrity of stored data on the other hand.

Operating System Tools

With regard to data security tools built into operating systems, Schultz explained that the tool built into the Microsoft Windows operating system has a flaw in that it is complex, while the tool built into the Apple operating system "macOS" is less complex.

However, Windows has many free backup programs, which provide more functionality and convenience than the Microsoft tool, such as the open source Duplicati.

In general, the German expert Lotus recommended following the 1-2-3 rule when securing data, ie making 3 copies on two data brokers, keeping one of them outside the home, for example in a safe deposit box.
