This spring, the Healthcare Association in Kalmar Region reported Kalmar to the Swedish Work Environment Authority due to the heavy workload in the emergency room in Kalmar.

And it seems to be an issue that often returns to the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

- We know that a long-term workload is unhealthy, then it is important for the employer to ensure that you have a balance between requirements and resources, says Peter Burman.

Risking a fine

The Swedish Work Environment Authority has now required Region Kalmar to report on what measures have been taken.

The answers must be available no later than September.

What can be the consequences if you do not fix the problems?

- If the employer does not remedy these shortcomings or can satisfactorily report what measures have been taken, we can go to the administrative court and request a fine, says Peter Burman.
