Now the Vättern Round is back on its classic summer weekend after two pandemic years.

16,000 cyclists are expected to cover the 31.5 miles around Sweden's second largest lake.

One of them is the professional cyclist Tobias Ludvigsson from Huskvarna.

- I have never ridden the Vättern Round, so we will see how this will go, he says.

Ludvigsson is part of a team of about 40 cyclists, and together they hope to get around the track faster than anyone else has done.

The current record time is six hours and 33 minutes.

"Perfect time"

Vätternrundan is part of a Swedish classic, together with Vasaloppet, Lidingöloppet and Vansbrosimningen, and for all participants to reach the finish line, the start is already on Friday night and continues during the night.

Ludvigsson will not start until Saturday at 11.30.

- It is a perfect time, it was not so tempting to start in the middle of the night for me, says Ludvigsson.

"A few miles in the legs"

For Ludvigsson's part, 31.5 km is nothing to get excited about.

He sees the Vättern Round as a warm-up before the Swedish Championships next week.

- I cycled 400 km in May with the Giro d 'Italia, so I still have a few miles in my legs.

It is quite gentle for someone who is used to cycling.

But cycling the Vättern Round will still be something else.

Huskvarnasonen is used to seeing participants whizzing by when he is at home in Sweden.

What are you most looking forward to?

- The best thing will be the community with a good bunch, go and nag a bit and try to enjoy.

It is very nice here around Lake Vättern.
