You have to go back to the record level on March 9, when the diesel price was up at 28:22, to find a higher price than now.

More expensive dollars

That the diesel price reaches this record level is mainly due to the fact that the oil price continues to rise on the world market - in combination with a record high demand and that fewer investments are made in new assets, according to Christian Kopfer who is a commodity analyst at Handelsbanken.

- The financial turmoil that has appeared on the market has also affected the Swedish krona negatively and we have lost significantly against the US dollar.

When oil prices are set in dollars, it directly hits diesel prices, says Christian Kopfer.

At the same time, the petrol price is reduced by 25 öre to SEK 23.33.

- Petrol prices and diesel prices are usually linked, but it also depends on how the combination between demand and supply looks between the two.

Basically, there is a clear reason why fuel prices should rise in general because the krona has weakened so sharply in recent weeks, says Kopfer.

Just over SEK 400 more expensive

The price of diesel and petrol has risen sharply this year, partly since energy prices rose globally as a result of the Ukraine war and sanctions against Russia.

Despite the fact that the Swedish tax on both diesel and petrol was reduced in May, the price has increased by 35 percent with today's increase since the turn of the year.

The increase means that the price for filling a tank of 60 liters of diesel has increased by just over SEK 400 to SEK 1,642.
