- A fielder's most important task is to create relationships with young people, keep track of them and be a support.

This is what Nanna Ventzel says, who has been working in Gislaved municipality with her four colleagues for a few years now.

That there are so many fielders in a municipality the size of Gislaved is unusual.

In comparison, Jönköping municipality has significantly larger, nine fields, Vaggeryd and Nässjö have two, while in some municipalities in Jönköping county there are no fields at all.

- It is unfortunate that some do not have any.

The fields are an important complement to other activities that exist in a municipality such as associations and leisure centers.

The fields are the support and security for young people outside that environment, says Adam Petersson, operations manager for Open Leisure in Gislaved.

Unusual organization

Something that is also unusual is that the field activities in Gislaved municipality are under the leisure administration and not the social administration, which is most common in the rest of the country.

This changed in 2019 and the business has since developed significantly.

- We have increased by over 100 percent.

Then we were two employees, now we are five.

As the leisure administration is quite small, it is easier for us to tell about our needs and what we lack.
