White House: Ukraine must make decisions on settling the conflict on its own

The White House announced that Ukraine should make decisions on settling the conflict in the country on its own.

"I think foreign leaders should speak up for themselves, their countries and their national interests," said John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications at the US National Security Council, on Wednesday.

He continued, "On President Biden's position, nothing has changed. Nothing related to Ukraine can be resolved without Ukraine. Ukraine is a sovereign country and President Zelensky is its democratically elected president and he has to determine how this war will end, what he considers a victory and how this result can be achieved."

This came in response to the statements of French President Emmanuel Macron, who said that the Ukrainian president would have to hold talks with Russia to end the conflict.

In another matter, Kirby stated that the United States had not seen any evidence of China providing military support to Russia in its operation in Ukraine.
